Is this game suitable for children?

No, absolutely not. This is a mature-audiences-only game.

"Do I need dice to play this?"

No, but they are nice to have. The book will come with some random number tables in the back. Drop a coin, point a finger, whatever and you’ll get an appropriate number between -5 and 9.

You can also use a dice rolling application on your phone, or a website, or buy a Dragonbone off of eBay if you want points for style.

You only need a d10 and a d6, regardless. Go to a game store and buy a d10! I bet they’re like a quarter or something. Burgle your Yahtzee set for the d6.

"This game looks weird. Is it only for RPG experts?"

No, not really. This is a very accessible game system. The rules take up a few pages, most of the book consists of prompts you use when playing the game. You can play this without any sort of knowledge of RPGs and have little trouble.

"How is replayability? Will it feel repetitive?"

No. Not at all. The prompts are just that: prompts. You will be generating a new story each time you play so when and if you encounter the same prompt again you’ll be reading it in a different context.

I’ve played this game over two dozen times and only a couple of the prompts felt repetitive.

Are the add-ons necessary to the game?

There are no expansions or add-ons to Thousand Year Old Vampire. The game is fully complete at the $25 backer level, contained in a single book. Dear Leader, You’re a Fucking Butterfly, and other things you see out there are separate games that just happen to be made by me.

What add-ons will be available?

I’m going to make a slew of things available through the add-on process being handled by Blackbox. There will be more copies of Dear Leader (hopefully), playtest decks for Apollo 47 (a thoroughly relaxed RPG about astronauts being a little bit bored on the Moon), Presidentiapocalypse, and three of the semi-academic RPG books I’ve produced: The Habitition of the Stone Giant Lord, The Complete The Oracle, and Everything is Dolphins.

Additional copies of TYOV will be available as well. And You’re a Fucking Butterfly.

But the shipping!

I know, it’s awful. These are being shipped from the US, and I’m probably losing money on whatever country I’m shipping to. It’s bonkers expensive and I’m sorry.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
